The 2026 Diplomatic Briefing reaffirmed strong commitment to advancing regional cooperation in migration governance and further strengthening the work of MARRI Regional Centre. The speakers highlighted continued political and institutional support for the Initiative and its role as a platform for coordination, dialogue and joint action across the region.
The event was opened by the Deputy Minister of Interior of North Macedonia, Astrit Iseni, who underlined MARRI’s role as a bridge between administrations, international partners and European institutions. This was followed by contributions from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia, Zoran Dimitrovski, and Edin Dilberović, Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who both reiterated support for the Initiative and its regional mandate.
The MARRI RC Director Angela Boranieva, presented a strategic overview of MARRI’s work over the past year and outlined its key priorities going forward. She emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships and synergies to ensure more efficient and impactful results.
The meeting once again confirmed broad support from partners and stakeholders for the work of MARRI and the Regional Centre, reinforcing its role as a trusted platform for cooperation and practical solutions in the region. Beyond the formal discussions, the event also provided an opportunity for informal networking and exchange of ideas among participants.
