High-level representatives of MARRI Participants gathered in Sarajevo for the MARRI Forum meeting under the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency-in-Office to reaffirm their commitment to regional cooperation and adopt key strategic and operational documents that will guide the future work of the Initiative, following their endorsement at the Committee meeting held the previous day.

Addressing the Forum, Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivica Bosnjak emphasized that MARRI has demonstrated for more than two decades that regional cooperation has no alternative and that, in a time of complex migration and security challenges, dialogue, coordination and mutual trust remain essential for the stability and progress of the region.

Presenting the work of the Regional Centre, MARRI RC Director Angela Boranieva highlighted that MARRI continues to provide a trusted platform for dialogue, exchange and cooperation, bringing together institutions, practitioners and experts, and demonstrating that regional challenges are most effectively addressed through coordinated responses and sustained partnerships. She expressed appreciation to the Participants and partners for their engagement and continued support.

he Forum adopted the Sarajevo Declaration, underscoring the Participants’ shared vision and commitment to advancing regional cooperation in migration management. The Forum also included the ceremonial handover of the Presidency-in-Office from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Kosovo*, which presented its priorities for the upcoming Presidency term, commencing on 1 July 2026.

International and regional partners represented at the Forum expressed their continued support for MARRI and their readiness to further strengthen cooperation, keeping migration high on the shared agenda.
