07 April 2011, Tirana – The Second Meeting of the MARRI Asylum Network, under the Albanian Presidency-in-Office, was held in Tirana, on April 7th 2011. The asylum experts from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, as well as Expert from the Police Cooperation Convention SEE Secretariat in Ljubljana were present, giving valuable contribution to the meeting.
Main objective of this event was further discussion and harmonization of the “Draft-Memorandum of Understanding among the MARRI Member States on Exchange and Provision of Data concerning Asylum Seekers”.
Other objective of the Meeting was further strengthening the Asylum Network and exchange of experience in the region through a study visit to the Reception Centre for Asylum Seekers in Tirana.
The Acting Minister of Interior of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Avenir Peka, welcomed the Meeting.
The Meeting was also welcomed by Mr. Mal Berisha, Albanian Chairman-in-Office, and Mr. Trpe Stojanovski, Director of MARRI RC in Skopje.
The participants expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Asylum Network Meeting in Tirana.
