The Albanian MARRI Presidency-in-Office and the MARRI Regional Centre organized the Round Table/Workshop “Improvement and intensification of the access to information and exchange data on migration and refugees among MARRI Member States – No visa, no tariffs, free movement zone among MARRI Member States”, on 21-22 June 2010, in Tirana.
The goal of the Workshop was to exchange experience on the subject matter, to discuss and identify modalities for further cooperation in this direction.
High level representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs and ministries of interior of MARRI Member States, representatives from regional and international organizations (EU, RCC, UNHCR, ICMPD, IOM), participated at this Meeting.
The Minister of Interior of the Republic of Albania Lulzim Basha, the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Spiro Ksera, as well as the Ambassador of EU to Albania Helmut Lohan, delivered speeches at this event.
In line with MARRI priorities, freedom of movement of citizens throughout MARRI Countries without visa, tariffs and passports, by using only Biometric Identity Cards (the creation of a Balkan Schengen) is one of the main targets of the Albanian Presidency-in-Office.
