Scaned_PDF(2)_001The members of MARRI Regional Forum: the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Albania Fatmir Xhafaj, the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Macedonia Oliver Spasovski, the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektic, the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Stefanovic, the Minister of Interior of Montenegro Mevludin Nuhodzic and the Minister of Interior of Kosovo*  Flamur Sefaj have signed the “Protocol for the Use of the Joint Interpretation Pool in the Area of Migration and Asylum which marked the end of the first phase of the project ‘Improvement of the Procedures for Establishing Identity of Irregular Migrants in the MARRI Region’, supported by British Embassy in Skopje and implemented by the Regional Centre.

The Protocol represents a legal framework for establishment of a regional database of interpreters of rare languages in the Western Balkans region (based in MARRI RC) with the aim to support the national institutions in the process of establishing the identity of irregular migrants.

Considered as a second phase of the project, the above-mentioned activities are supported by International Organization for Migration (IOM) as implementing partner of European Commission in the framework of IPA II funded regional programme “Regional Support to Protection-Sensitive Migration Management in the Western Balkan and Turkey”.

Protocol for the Use of the Joint Interpretation Pool in the Area of Migration and Asylum has been signed on 8 February 2018
