The MARRI Regional Committee convened under the Presidency-in-Office by the Republic of Albania on 4 December 2024 in Skopje to address important organizational and regional matters, fostering dialogue and cooperation among the MARRI Participants’ administrations. Chaired by Antonela Dhimolea, Minister Councillor and Head of the Regional Initiative Unit at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, the meeting focused on reviewing achievements, discussing operational improvements, and setting priorities for the future.
The Semi-annual Report on the MARRI Regional Centre’s Activities from July to December 2024 was presented by the MARRI RC Acting Director Simona Krstevska. The report highlighted progress in ongoing projects, regional engagement, and administrative improvements, showcasing MARRI’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation.
A special session with the GIZ representative Sophie Meinke, Project Manager at GIZ Office in Skopje, emphasized the value of MARRI’s strategic partnership with GIZ. The Committee expressed gratitude to the Federal Republic of Germany and GIZ for their steadfast support, particularly acknowledging the support in the framework of the regional project “Fostering Economic Opportunities of the MARRI Participants’ Administrations by Enhancing the System for International Protection” (PeMo).
During the closed session, the Committee deliberated on several strategic and operational topics. The meeting concluded with discussions on potential collaborative activities, including further engagement within established and new partnerships to advance shared objectives.
