The MARRI Regional Centre in Skopje, under the Macedonian MARRI Presidency in Office, organized the MARRI Friends/Diplomatic Briefing meeting at the Government premises, on March 10th 2015.
The meeting gathered members of diplomatic corps in Macedonia, relevant international organizations: ICMPD, IOM, OSCE, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia. MARRI Member States were represented by the ambassadors and representatives from the respective embassies.
The opening speech was delivered by H.E. Ms. Gordana Jankuloska, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Macedonia, in capacity of MARRI RC host country and the one year MARRI Presidency. She reiterated full support to the MARRI activity, underlined the need of MARRI for the region, the importance of Cavtat Declaration and stressed the support to participation of Kosovo* in the MARRI activities.
Mr. Jon Ivanovski, the MARRI National Coordinator, MFA of Macedonia, addressed the participants on behalf of the Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office and highlighted some of the achievements of the Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office as well as the idea of MARRI as a success story in the region.
The Director of the MARRI Regional Centre Skopje, Ph.D. Trpe Stojanovski gave an overview of MARRI background, of its current and future activities, strategy, priorities, projects and partners. He expressed gratefulness to the donor countries, such as Switzerland, UK and others for their financial support to MARRI projects.
During the Tour de table, the Ambassador of Serbia and the Ambassador of Kosovo* also expressed their positions on MARRI.
