Swedish Ambassador in Belgrade H.E. Jan Lundin met with MARRI RC Director, Ambassador Tamara Mugosa at MARRI RC in Skopje on January 20th 2017. The First Secretary at the Embassy in Belgrade Mr. Erik Reho and Migration Liaison Officer at Swedish Migration Agency Mr. Milan Bobic also attended the meeting. MARRI RC was represented by NR of Montenegro and Project Manager for BORDAIRPOL II Ms. Selma Mehovic, NR of Macedonia and MARRI Coordinator for GIZ technical assistance Mr. Atanas Minov, Coordination Officer Ms. Katerina Kulishevska and Communication Officer Ms. Anita Veljanova.
Mugosa briefed on the process of developing of MARRI Strategy 2017-2020 as well as achievements in MARRI reform. Interlocutors also discussed the key priorities in management of migration crisis and ongoing activities and projects of MARRI.
Ambassador Lundin has participated in establishment of MARRI, as Stability Pact coordinator in 2001 during the Swedish EU-Presidency. He shared his views and experiences and stressed that Sweden remains committed to supporting migration management in the Western Balkans region, in particular regular migration. He assessed that meeting with MARRI RC team will be valuable contribution for Swedish authorities to identify the areas of potential assistance in the forthcoming period.
