Skopje – The MARRI Committee convened under the Presidency-in-Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to review progress achieved in the second half of the year and to discuss priorities for the period ahead. The meeting was chaired by Zoran Perkovic, Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In his opening remarks, Perkovic underscored the importance of enhancing MARRI’s visibility and strengthening its role as a proactive and recognisable actor in regional migration cooperation. He also emphasised the need to position the Regional Centre even more prominently within the region, ensuring that its work remains coherent, impactful, and well-reflected in wider regional initiatives – a key strategic priority of the MARRI Presidency-in-Office.
Following the Agenda, MARRI RC Director Angela Boranieva presented the Semi-annual Report on the activities of the MARRI Regional Centre. The report highlighted key developments in programme implementation, ongoing cooperation initiatives, and efforts to further strengthen the Regional Centre’s internal capacities. Additionally, Director Boranieva updated on the progress made on preparation of the next MARRI Strategy, outlining the remaining steps required for its finalisation and the planned consultations to ensure alignment with the priorities of all MARRI Participants.
In line with its competencies, the Committee exchanged information on several processes relevant to the region, including ongoing collaboration with other organisations and initiatives in areas of mutual interest. The meeting concluded with the adoption of the MARRI Committee’s Conclusions and Recommendations to the MARRI Regional Forum, reaffirming the shared commitment to enhancing practical cooperation and supporting coordinated approaches in managing migration.
